Enigma is a blob mutation of Psilocybe cubensis. Pins start. They never finish a cap or a stem. The tissue keeps folding — coral, brain, fins — until you have a dense mass with no gills and no spores. It is still cubensis. It just never becomes a mushroom.
Tryptomics HPLC on this Sont lot landed in the lab’s AVERAGE band: 0.712% Psilocin Equivalent. That is notably lower than community-tested ToqueF8 Nerds isolations, which have posted around 2.8–3.3%. Same unfinished body type. Different chemistry. See the parent page at sonttoquef8.com.
The gap worth exploring is not “Enigma is secretly stronger than the card.” It is this: an AVERAGE ranking next to reports of quicker open-eye geometry than a lot of cubes — visible, not as fast as Shakti, and not explained by high native psilocin. This lot measured 0.333 mg/g psilocin. Shakti’s featured lot was 2.13. Different mechanism. Timed reports will show what this dense tissue is actually doing.

Enigma pins like a cube, then refuses the rest of the job. No cap, no stem, no gills — just folded fruit tissue. Developmental arrest, not a new species. It is the same informal class as ToqueF8 Nerds. Not the same isolate, and on this lot not the same potency.

Many-headed PE or Toque blob. Not a standard strain and not a third Sont isolate.
No gills means no spores. Authentic Enigma lives as tissue. A vendor selling “Enigma spore syringes” is not selling this mutation.
Small type: cultures can revert and throw caps. Those fruits have tested much weaker than the blob in at least one Hyphae Cup set. If yours grew a cap, say so on the form.

Grounding facts and what this lot actually suggests
Grounding Facts
Enigma is a developmental mutation of Psilocybe cubensis, not a new species. Pins start. They do not become a cap, a stem, or gills. Tissue keeps folding into a coral- or brain-like mass. Because there are no gills, there are no basidia, and this isolate does not drop a meaningful spore print. It is carried as a clone.
The parent line is Tidal Wave (also written Tidalwave; you’ll hear Titlewave). That cross is Penis Envy × B+, put into circulation by Doma Nunzio / Magic Myco around 2017. Enigma is what growers isolate when a lump in a Tidal Wave bin stays a lump after cloning. Magic Myco called their version TW2. The community name that stuck is Enigma.
It sits in the same informal “blob” class as ToqueF8 Nerds — the mutation isolated from TF8, the calm chef’s-hat parent on sonttoquef8.com. Same unfinished body type. Not the same isolate. Community-tested Nerds isolations have landed around 2.8–3.3%. This Enigma lot did not.
Tryptomics HPLC on this Sont lot measured psilocybin 0.945% (9.445 mg/g), native psilocin 0.033% (0.333 mg/g), Psilocin Equivalent 0.712%, and total analyzed compounds 1.016% (10.157 mg/g). The lab’s relative-potency ranking is AVERAGE. Aeruginascin is present at 0.074 mg/g. 4-HO-T was not detected. A home NIR on sample eng25779 read As-is Total 1.23% (PCBE 0.76%, PCN 0%, PCB 0.86%, Minors 0.13%) — same neighborhood, different method. HPLC is the lot card.
What the Profile Suggests
This is not Shakti’s chemotype. Shakti’s featured lot was average PEQ with very high native psilocin (2.13 mg/g). This Enigma lot is the opposite ratio — almost all of the measured strength is still psilocybin.
So if people notice open-eye geometry sooner than the AVERAGE ranking leads them to expect, we should not reach for the Shakti mechanism. The “Shakti effect” people describe is a feeling, not shared chemistry. Two quieter facts are on the table: Enigma is all folded fruit tissue with no watery stem, and onset still lives in preparation, stomach, and setting.
One comparison from a different strain: a Shakti session on a bright beach in Mexico produced soft, beautiful open-eye fractals in daylight without the whole journey going vertical. That is the kind of gap we are listening for with Enigma — visible, not overwhelming — and we need Enigma reports to see whether it holds.
Aeruginascin is measurable here. That is a note, not an explanation.
Limitations & Variables
Cup headlines for other Enigma-class isolates have run far higher than this lot. Tryptomics has also seen blob samples land below average cubensis. One HPLC does not settle the name. Preparation, how much of a fold versus a dry core was eaten, and whether a culture has started to revert toward caps all move the experience. Reverts exist and have tested much weaker.
Set and setting still dominate. A comparison to Nerds is useful only if both names are honest about which isolation you had.
Why We’re Collecting Reports
The question is specific: does this AVERAGE lot still bring earlier open-eye geometry than other cubes at a similar PEQ — and if so, is that density, prep, or something the panel does not capture? Amount, prep, onset clock, and “did visuals hold with eyes open?” are the fields that make that testable.
